In June 2024 the regional theatre of Novi Pazar hosted Michael for a two-day BoxWhatBox
workshop led by Michael with actors under the guidance of Kristina Jevtović, a principal actor in the Novi Pazar company.
BoxWhatBox Workshop: Kraljevo – June 2024
In June 2024 Michael led an intensive five-day BWB workshop with the actors of Grupa Grupa in
Kraljevo, Serbia. Grupa is a company dedicated to developing the professionalism and talent of
young actors, founded by Vladan Slavković, the visionary artist who is also responsible for the
A.N.F.I. Teatar Festival in Kraljevo.
BoxWhatBox Workshop: Alexandria – April 2024
In April 2024 Michael worked with a multi-denominational group of actors in Alexandria, Egypt,
hosted by the Jesuit Cultural Centre. The workshop extended over 32 hours and two week of work at the JCC’s historic black box theatre.
Production: Ghosts Are Dancing – 2023
Commissioned as the closing show for the 2023 A.N.F.I. Teatar Festival in Kraljevo, Serbia. Adapted from the Greek myth of Hecuba and the surviving women of Troy, Michael began the process with a scenario, translated into Serbian by principal actor (Hecuba) Sara Gajović. Over an intensive ten-day period Michael, Sara worked with the members of Vladan Slavković’s theatre troupe Grupa Grupa, who formed the Chorus and played individual roles, using BoxWhatBox as a foundation for the physicalisation of the material. Performed before a capacity crowd on the banks of the River Ibar, Ghosts Are Dancing once again showcased the creative power of BoxWhatBox in performance.
